In Ghaziabad, a 35-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly causing the death of a 70-year-old woman during a confrontation with her son in Madhuban Bapudham. According to police reports, the woman, identified as Ramvati Devi, intervened to protect her son, Bijendra Kumar, during an argument with the accused, Majid, who resides in the same locality. During the altercation, Majid allegedly pushed Ramvati, leading to her fall and resulting in fatal injuries. ACP Abhishek Srivastava of Kavi Nagar stated that Bijendra, along with his brother and mother, lived in LIG flats in the Kanshiram Avas Yojna area of Madhuban Bapudham. The incident occurred around 12:30 am on a Sunday when Majid, an e-rickshaw driver reportedly under the influence of alcohol, was found sitting outside the Kumar residence. An argument ensued after Bijendra questioned Majid's presence, prompting Ramvati to intervene in an attempt to defuse the situation. Following the altercation, Ramvati suffered severe injuries after being pushed by Majid, leading to her death. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Ramvati's body underwent a post-mortem examination, and an FIR has been filed against Majid at Madhuban Bapudham police station under relevant sections of the law. The accused has been presented in court and is now in judicial custody.
